What is the difference between raw footage and edited footage?
Raw footage includes hundreds of unnamed, untouched and unstabilized video clips, and watching them is not as enjoyable until they are put together in an edited movie. When we do editing of our wedding films, we review all the raw footage from all 3 cameras and choose the best angles, stabilize some clips, create smooth transitions, sync the audio with video, add the title, credits, etc. Instead of looking through hundreds of raw clips, you will enjoy 1 nice professionally edited wedding film.
I see that you provide other wedding related services. Do you offer discounts if I hire you to do everything?
Yes, in addition to San Diego wedding videography, we also offer affordable wedding photography, lighting design, audio visual equipment rentals, as well as San Diego wedding DJ and live music services. Do you offer photo/video combo packages?
Yes, we have two great budget-friendly wedding videography and photography combo packages to choose from. Package #1 comes with one photographer and one vieographer for three hours and raw (unedited) photos and videos. Its cost is only $2200, which is much cheaper than booking each service separately. Package #2 is even better - it comes with one photographer and one videographer for four hours, 200-300 best edited photos, a full edited ceremony video and guest interviews - all for just $3000. How much is the deposit to reserve the date?
We charge only 1/3 of the total to reserve the date. We also require a signed contract. Our full payment/refund policy will be sent to you with the contract via email so you can review it before making your final decision.
What type(s) of lighting do you use for videography? Will it be too bright or uncomfortable for my guests?
Answer: We usually use small on-camera LED lights, which is a common practice for wedding videographers. These lights significantly improve video image quality in dark rooms. While some people may find these lights to be too bright, it's usually not a problem for most of our clients and their guests. If your wedding venue has restrictions on photography or videography lighting, or you simply don't want us to use any lighting, we would be happy to keep the lights off as long as you understand that it may impact the quality of our wedding films.
Why are your services so cheap? What's the catch?
There are several factors that allow us to charge less than most wedding vendors. First of all, unlike most other San Diego event videographers, we spend very little money on advertising. Most of our work comes from client referrals, vendor referrals and online search. Secondly, having an innovative and healthy business system makes it easy for us to book/plan more weddings and work with more people. Finally and most importantly, we do multiple weddings at the same time.
Will my wedding videographer get in the way and distract my guests?
We always try to be as transparent as possible so your guests can truly enjoy your big day. However, during some parts of the wedding it may difficult to avoid blocking someone's view while setting up or adjusting the video cameras. As an established San Diego video production company, we know how to be less noticeable and always take the comfort of your guests into consideration.
Who will be the filmmaker at my wedding?
Depending on our availability and which package you select, your filmmaker is going to be either our company owner (Charlie Walkrich) or one of our team members. We have 5 San Diego wedding videographers working on a regular basis and 25+ backup vdeographers available in case of emergency. Every San Diego event videographer we work with has at least a few years of experience in the industry and is trained by our company owner personally.
How much earlier before the ceremony should we start the coverage?
Unless you want us to capture you getting ready, putting on your dress, the rings, first look, etc., we always recommend starting the coverage at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of the ceremony. That way your San Diego wedding videographer will have a little bit of time to get some beautiful close-up shots of your ceremony arch, flowers, chairs, decorations, scenery, your guests arriving, etc. Unfortunately, it's impossible to do this during or after the ceremony.
How do you record audio when filming?
Our built-in camera microphones usually provide decent quality audio and most of our clients are happy with the original audio recorded on the cameras. While in most areas/rooms everything can be heard clearly, it may become a challenge to capture good quality audio if your wedding is on a beach or if a strong wind is present. This is why we have a professional external audio recorder available for $250. It allows us to capture much higher quality audio for editing and post-production. The recorder usually connects directly to your DJ's sound system. As a more affordable alternative, you may also consider adding an external camera microphone to your package, which costs only $100. Because the mic is directional, it will help with blocking some of the background noise.
Can I meet with my San Diego event videographer before the wedding?
Yes, you may request a detailed in-person consultation prior to your wedding day. However, you would be meeting with our company owner Charlie as he is in charge of customer relations, wedding planning and quality control. There is an extra fee for this meeting. Where can I see the samples of raw (unedited) footage?
We would be happy to send you a private link to a folder with raw footage from a recent wedding if you contact us. Although our wedding videographers are trained under the same guidelines, please note that every videographer's footage is slightly different. In addition to human factor, your preferences on the booking form, your event venue's restrictions and requests from your coordinator or photographer may affect the placement of cameras, the amount of time for decor shots and the overall video quality. Therefore, most likely your wedding video will be slightly different from what you see in that folder.
Can you work with my photographer as one team?

As long as your photographer is a professional, there shouldn't be any problems. Our videographers do everything they can to be friendly and accommodating while not getting in the photographer's way, and most photographers usually do the same. Oftentimes, our videographers actually capture things from the same angle as the photographer, which makes things easy for all parties involved. Out of 1000+ weddings that we've captured, only once there was a problem with a photographer.

If your wedding venue requires a custom certificate with their name and address listed as additionally insured, we would be happy to provide it at no extra cost to you. However, if your venue requests vendors to submit their background checks, provide social security numbers or other private information, there would be a small extra fee for each person who submits such forms.
